A basic disclosure is a criminal record check. This is often required by employers when you are applying for a job. When you apply, you then receive a certificate showing any ‘unspent’ criminal convictions you may have. Unspent means you need to declare them. You can use this certificate to show to prospective employers or other people that need to know this information.
More information can be found at Apply for a basic disclosure.
